My very first blog from the mountains

4 Aug

A big thank you to the little bald headed one – el calvito – as we call him in the hills…………….  The last thing on my mind was to start a blog but have now been persuaded.  I intend writing about some of the weird and wonderful things I see and hear on my mountain in Southern Spain.  Being very much in the minority as  a Brit pensionista, and a female one at that,  living among the Spanish Camposinos near a very small whitewashed village is never dull.

Winters here are short but sharp with anything up to a metre of snow and minus 12 degrees, whilst summers are hot, hot, hot.  Today is hovering around the 40 degree mark, the cicadas making a racket outside with the little legs getting faster and faster as the heat rises.  Apart from them, all is now quiet outside as most are at siesta – even the birds are waiting until the cooler evening to recommence their search for food.  It is days like this that make it hardly worth hanging the washing on the line as it dries in 10 minutes flat.

This is my introduction to what is my intention over the coming weeks.  Keep an eye out on here to see some of the unbelievablele but true antics of my beautiful neighbours in this delightful part of Spain.

See you again soon…..
